About
This is the last academic degree I expect to get, so I’m trying to make it count. I am likely to avoid the tenure track headaches in the future by diving into the IT startup community and writing research books on technology and culture.
For now, I am splitting my time between three major projects. One of them is this dissertation that Indiana University requires of me before they will let me get out of poverty with a Ph.D. In this blog, I intend to chronicle that journey out of school.
Organic Robotics is my working title for a human-centered design approach to improving the effectiveness of social robots. I am influenced by prior work done in ambiguous design and phatic communication, and I hope to cultivate insights from those perspectives to analyze and conceptualize a new framework for the design of robots.
